Thunbergia alata | African Sunset
Thunbergia alata African Sunset also known as Black-eyed Susan is a wonderful climber with the most delicious colours of flowers with shades of buff, peach and orange - the sort of colours you would expect in a beautiful sunset! Leaves are an attractive heart shape.
It likes a full sun well drained position and being a climber it will want some support. It can however be used as a ground cover on a bank or wall where it can roam. It is fast growing and free flowering and this annual climber will flower hard out until your first hard frost. Plants will respond well to a monthly feed.
It may also be a short lived perennial for you depending upon where you live for example further north in warmer areas. These plants may self sow but seedlings are easily removed if you don't want extra volunteers. A great bee magnet! Looks lovely mixed with other climbers in plummy shades!
