Ajuga reptans variegata
This Bugle is such a popular plant in the garden! I think it's because they are such a reliable semi-evergreen groundcover in the shade. This one is a lovely collector's plant with its unusual and rare variegated foliage of silver, cream, green and a touch of pink, above which are held blue flower spikes in Spring, adding a bright spot under decidous and evergreen trees alike.
They grow 20 cm tall and 40 cm wide, and spread in the right conditions, which means they enjoy moist soil to keep them growing well. Add compost at the beginning of the growing season to keep them happy. The bees love them!
