perfect for pollinators

This spirea is noted for its stunning foliage.  Spirea japonica Goldflame is a deciduous shrub with stunning bronze red leaves in spring that change again to a yellow-green as summer arrives.  Also in spring and into summer it has flat sprays of rose pink flowers.  A plant that has seasonal interest, the autumn months it turns brilliant shades of orangey marmalade, red and yellow with mixed colours on the same stem so a fabulous foliage for picking!

This plant is striking and is a perfect choice for contrast and also to brighten up the garden.  This spirea cultivar is also a great choice for containers and even as a low hedge as well.

Happiest in full sun, it is easily grow in average but well drained soils.  It also will tolerate light shade as well as a wide range of soil conditions. The flowers are loved by butterflies and bees.

When it comes to pruning, this plant flowers on new wood so be sure to prune in late winter or early spring if needed.  If you let the plant go, you can easily renovate it by cutting it back hard after flowering.  Plants can also be divided in autumn and spring so a great way to increase your plants.
