perfect for pollinators

Also known as Aruncus dioicus or Goats Beard this lovely plant has plumes of creamy-white tiny starlike flowers resembling an Astilbe but it is considerably taller is stature. Aruncus is an attractive perennial with mounds of fernlike leaves so there is a big show from early summer right through until autumn when it loses it leaves and becomes dormant until spring.

This clump-forming perennial grows quite slowly up to around 1.2 to 1.8m in height and spreads to about 1.2m.  Aruncus will perform at their best in medium to wet but well-drained soils in either full sun or partial shade, in fact, they will even tolerate full shade although partial shade is really their preferred growing conditions.

Aruncus makes an excellent backdrop for shady moist areas and also looks effective as a hedge, a specimen plant or along the edges of streams or ponds. Super easy to grow Aruncus thrives on neglect and is also left alone by the rabbits which thrills us no end! It also copes with freezing temperatures and snow.  Flowers are also excellent for cutting and can last up to ten days.
