perfect for pollinators

Also known as Indigo Woodland Sage, Salvia forsskaolii is a stunning and very hardy salvia that will thrive in partial shade as well as full sun and also tolerates dry conditions, but does like good drainage. The foliage is striking and forms a mound of large ground covering dark green leaves that are low to the ground. The flower stems that rise above the leaves to a height of about 45cm have whorls of widely spaced violet-blue double lipped flowers that have white streaks on the lower lip and creates a fantastic display all summer long that stand proud above the super large green foliage.

A rather awkward name for such a lovely Salvia - you will often see the name spelt Forsskaolii and Forskahlei but they are one and the same.

A native of Bulgaria and the Mediterranean this tough little plant requires little attention.  These plants are pretty self-sufficient once established and are also drought tolerant, but do appreciate a feed once a year. Looks stunning places with fine textured perennials and ornamental grasses. Remove flowers as they fade to encourage more.

Foliage - 50cm to 60cm x 80cm Wide |  Flower stems standing above the foliage.

Plant size PB2 | Equivalent 1.2 litres
