Saxifraga stolonifera
Known by several names such as "Mother of thousands" and creeping saxifrage amongst others, this perennial groundcover spreads via threadlike runners with its little plantlets taking root in the vicinity of the parent plant. The attractive leaves are green with silvery grey and reddish hues.
It is much admired for its attractive small white flowers with distinctive pointed petals. It can also be grown indoors. When grown outside it is hardy down to zero but will not survive prolonged freezing temperatures.
Saxifraga stolonifera requires a sheltered spot in full shade or partial shade. It makes an excellent groundcover, and you can see this in the photo below in our garden. This wonderful little plant has been awarded the RHS Garden of Merit. Easily split and will multiply quickly

However, areas such as Auckland or the Middle North Island may allow up to 12 standard 1 Litre sized plants before the next level shipping rate applied.)
- Plant orders will only be dispatched on Monday's and Tuesday's this will ensure that your order is not held in a depot over the weekend
- All parcels are set at "Authority to leave" which means if you're not home at the time of delivery the courier will leave your parcel in a safe place on your property
- Most NZ Post deliveries are a two-day service with the exception of rural and South Island delivery which may add up to two days.
