Scabiosa columbaria subsp. ochroleuca is a clump-forming very pretty dainty perennial In the summer the plants bear tall wiry stems that stand proud above the finely cut leaves many pale lemon flowers in the typical petalled, pincushion style of Scabiosa's.
These gorgeous little plants flower for weeks on end in late summer for months on end - often we find up to five months. These plants will thrive in fertile soil in a sunny well drained spot and have the added advantage of seeding themselves about so you can easily relocate and unwanted little ones to other areas of your garden or gift to gardening friends as this will be a welcome addition to their gardens. As with all Scabiosa plants they are a magnet for bees and butterflies.
These little flowers are also great for cutting and last well in a vase, so the perfect choice for your cutting garden as well as your perennial border. Deadhead to encourage re flowering - also great in a pot, but remember to feed with a liquid fertiliser to keep up the flowering ability.
