perfect for pollinators
This lovely tulbaghia which hails from South Africa has dainty heads of fragrant lilac pink flowers on stems that stand proud above the attractive blue-grey foliage.

This little plant adds both colour and texture to borders and is easy care. A clump forming semi-evergreen perennial Society Garlic as it is also known had the added bonus of being drought tolerant once established.

Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Plants can be easily split once established.

Flowers are also pretty for picking. The leaves can be used as a substitute for garlic in recipes for a mild garlic flavour. The plant seems to have antibacterial, antifungal and antithrombotic properties. Some studies suggesting that compounds found in plants like Tulbaghia may have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects especially useful for topical applications. Be sure to consult with a healthcare professional for guidance on dosages and uses. When planted around the house, Tulbaghia violacea keeps mosquitoes, ticks and fleas away too. Such a useful plant!

Perennial Hardy to about -5 degrees Celsius.

Height 50cm x clumping.

Pot Size : 1 Litre
