perfect for pollinators
'Acorus is a perennial ornamental grass with white and green foliage that looks a little like our native flax. The leaves are cream with dark green edges. This plant can grow to be about 25 cm tall and 15 cm wide and prefers moist soil in a sunny or shady spot in the garden. It can also be submerged in water up to 5 cm deep, so it's a great addition to your wetlands or the edges of the pond. Acorus is also known as sweet flag. It is native to wetland areas in East Asia.
Give it bright light, but more sun means more water. In warm climates, partial shade can protect from the afternoon sun.
Keep the soil evenly moist to wet and check the soil daily for adequate moisture. If the soil dries out, leaf tips will brown.
Fertilize regularly in spring and summer with a liquid fertilizer rich in nitrogen such as Seasol.
Most Acorus are evergreen throughout most of their growing range and will require little if any pruning. Great little plant with lots of character!
