Also known as Korean Angelica, this plant is stunning, and it is one of my favourites with its large domes of dark-burgundy coloured flowers in summer. Bees go absolutely crazy for it, both honeybees and bumblebees and it is not unusual to have 10-15 bees buzzing around it all competing for space, and you can see this on my video that I have posted here.
Angelica gigas makes an excellent cut flower and can last up to a couple of weeks in the vase. It is a short-lived perennial, but worth having in the garden as if it likes its position, it will self-sow. It is happy in poor soils and does not mind clay. It is happy in full sun in cooler climates but appreciates some partial shade in warmer areas.
