Cephalaria gigantea | Giant Scabious
Cephalaria gigantea also known as giant yellow scabious is a clump-forming perennial and has big 6cm wide lemon coloured flowers that are as the name suggests, very similar to that of a Scabiosa.
The basal foliage though is only about 60cm wide and bushy - the word giant really comes from the tall airy stems of flowers as in my garden the clumps of foliage are only about 50-60cm high with the flowers that float above the foliage.
Flowers in Summer with the added bonus of being an excellent cut flower lasting well in a vase. Happy in a well-drained sunny to a partially shaded position.
Height of flower stems upwards of 1-5m - Clump of lower foliage about 50-50cm high x approximately 60cm Wide.
