Kniphofia pauciflora is a dwarf yellow flowering species of the "Red Hot Poker" family. A perennial with a clumping habit with pretty little flared yellow tubular flower heads that ascend from above the green grass-like foliage. These impressive little plants also make great cut flowers and will often repeat flower through the summer months. Kniphofias once established are particularly drought tolerant but do like good drainage and will appreciate a drink when it is very hot. Happy growing in either full sun or partial shade. This little one is a little bit more unusual and almost like a wildflower with its yellow flowers more sparsely placed than a traditional Kniphofia.
They are particularly hardy and don't mind frost or wind. Not only do they look great in the garden but perfect for a pot as well. Happy to be divided and we use the rule of thumb that you can divide once the plant has finished flowering so in this case late summer to early autumn would be fine. Bees and butterflies love this plant.
