perfect for pollinators
Lagerstroemia indica 'Soil d'Oir', also known as the Crepe Myrtle, is an absolutely stunning small tree growing to about 6-7 mteres tall and 3 metres wide. It prefers free-draining, soil in full sun. It can grow in almost any kind of soil, including clay. The soil pH should be about 6 to 6.5 to help the crape myrtles take up its food well. It has large heads of pink crinkled flowers that bloom in late summer and are followed by small brown fruit. The leaves are rich green, but turn red and orange in the autumn. The trunk develops interesting bark as the bush matures.
You can plant the 'Soil d'Oir' after autumn rains when the soil is moist and warm. You should avoid wet soil though. Wonderful little tree for late summer colour.
Pot size: PB6.5
