Penstemon hybrida | Firebird | Beardtongue
Firebird produces blooms from midsummer to early or mid autumn. Large, tubular-bell-shaped, scarlet-red flowers with reddish brown stems and dark green leaves. Large, trumpet-shaped flowers have a red throat that blends from pale pink to white at the base. The blooms along the stem are said to resemble flickering fire hence the name.
Hardy down to -10° ! Deadheading to tidy is always a good idea.
Grows 60 cm tall and wide, prefers a sunny spot, but will be ok in part shade.
Attracts bees, beneficial insects and butterflies and is drought tolerant too!
