perfect for pollinators

A stand out salvia with one of the deepest and purest blue flowers.  Salvia patens commonly known as Gentian Sage, is an elegant perennial with flowers that are about 5cm in length that flowers from summer through autumn.  Salvia patens Oxford Blue will die back in winter to re-emerge in spring.  Fairly low maintenance this charming perennial will please your butterflies no end! Growing up to 90cm tall and approximately 45cm wide it spreads slowly from tuberous roots and is a perfect addition to containers and garden beds.

Being a tuber it can be lifted just like a Dahlia and can be stored and then replanted after the likelihood of frost has passed.  Also excellent as a cut flower, and deadheading will encourage re-blooming.  Blue Angel performs best in full sun although they will tolerate light shade.  Looks particularly stunning with Salvia patens Cambridge Blue which is a soft powder blue and also Salvia patens Chilcombe which is a pale mauve both of which we sell.

Height: 60- 90cm x approximately 45cm Wide

Perennial | Frost tender

Pot Size: 1 Litre
